Breadcrumbs are a secondary navigation element that displays the hierarchical position of the current page within a site, rendered as an ordered sequence of ancestor links terminating in the current page. They reflect site structure rather than session history, and when marked up with BreadcrumbList structured data they may be displayed by search engines in place of the URL.
